The use of x-ray equipment is regulated in the UK by IRR199. Regulation 17 of the Ionising Radiations regulations (IRR99) requires radiation employers (anyone using an x-ray machine) to appoint one or more suitable Radiation Protection Supervisors to ‘assist in ensuring regulatory compliance’.

Who is this course aimed at?
This is a course for those appointed in the role of Radiation Protection Supervisor, with responsibility for x-ray equipment. No prior knowledge of radiation safety is assumed although those attending should have a working knowledge of the equipment to be supervised.
What is the course about?
This course teaches the basic principles of radiation protection in relation to x-ray equipment. This includes mailroom security x-ray cabinets, conveyorised x-ray machines, portable x-ray generators and industrial x-ray equipment.
